Volunteers Needed for FLAM Conference

Live Art Local are seeking volunteers for the For Love And Money (FLAM) Conference taking place at the Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham, Hampshire on 25th January.


FLAM 2018 is a conference that focuses on building networks and fundraising for artists, arts professionals and arts organisations.  Speakers on the day represent a number of important organisations including, Arts Council England,  A-N, Artists' Union England, Be Smart About Art, CVAN and many others.


Volunteers should be able to get to Fareham for 9am.  The conference is a one day event running from 9:45 am until 7pm.


There will be a number of areas where help will be required during the day from front of house, including delegate registration; to helping with refreshments and food; and more general duties throughout the day.


We are also seeking volunteers with AV experience to help with the technical side of things.


In return we are offering volunteers the chance to see as  much of the conference as possible.   Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  Travel costs will be reimbursed.  We are also offering artists and creatives either a free listing for a year on our new directory for creatives launching soon.  Or 6 months FREE silver membership to Sticks Affiliate Artists.  This means they will have their own account on the Sticks Affiliate Artists site and receive FREE coaching from an accredited Culture Art Work/ RD1st coach; receive opportunities, including exclusive and free exhibition opportunities;  access to free crits and meetups;  the ability to have reduced prices to events and the chance to make use of our soon to open temporary artist studios and experimental art space at a very low cost.

This is a great opportunity to interact with artists, organisations and other arts professionals and to get some valuable experience to support your career.

Zine Library: Brum

"As part of this year’s TEDxBrum #Perspectives event, we are excited to be inviting submissions for a Perspectives Zine Library to be installed at Birmingham Hippodrome. Curated by Illustrated Brum, this collection of creative artefacts from local, national and international makers will create space for over 1800 visitors to connect with this year’s theme, and showcase the ideas, opinions, beliefs, hopes, fears and talents of their creators in order to share perspectives in an intimate, thoughtful way throughout the day. "

Women Photographers Grant

PHmuseum presents a new annual grant aimed at supporting women photographers. The PHM 2017 Women Photographers Grant invites applications from female and female-identifying professionals of all ages and from all countries working in diverse areas of photography. The award offers a 1st Prize of £ 5,000, a 2nd Prize of £ 2,000 and a 3rd Prize of £ 1,000. A solo exhibition at Organ Vida International Photography Festival will also be awarded.

Professional Development: Open School East Associates Programme

Open School East are seeking applications from emerging artists to join its independent, self-directed and outward-facing artist development programme. The Associates Programme is free, non-accredited and a year-long, starting in January 2018 and running until December 2018. The associates come together two days a week (Thursdays and Fridays) to receive tuition, meet their mentors, work and collaborate on projects, and plan activities. Tuition is delivered through a combination of workshops, seminars, group crits and excursions, a number of which are open to the public. Associates at Open School East are early-career practitioners with or without a BA, MA or formal artistic qualification, who are seeking a critical and informal environment in which to develop their practice. Open School East is located in Margate.


Dark Yellow Dot: Lifted

Dark Yellow Dot aims to encourage young artists with a strong personal vision and innovative approach to art making.

For our first open competition for young emerging artists in London, 3 winners will be featuring up to three original pieces of artwork together for a group show at East London's legendary Genesis Cinema Gallery. Winners will also be interviewed for an exclusive feature on Dark Yellow Dot and receive a generous gift card towards high-quality art materials!

Switch Art Project: Open Call for Lense Based Media

Entry Deadline: 06 October 2017 - 5pm

Tipperary, Ireland

switch 2017 will be 8 lens based works by one individual artist. These works will be installed in 8 different locations throughout the town centre of Nenagh and will run simultaneously from ca. 5pm to ca.12pm daily for one week. An artist fee of Euro 2000 will be paid to the artist for the showing of the 8 works. Please note VAT may be applicable. some notes: the installed videos will be shown without sound the video works will be situated in the public sphere works will be shown on a constant loop, exhibited works will be shown using a Media-player & a projector the format of showing the work is by using large windows as projection screens.
